The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Moscow and Tehran officially entered into force on October 2, 2025. The treaty was signed earlier this year on January 17 by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian in Moscow.
According to the ministry, the agreement marks a new phase in Russian-Iranian relations, reflecting a strategic choice by both governments to strengthen ties in line with their national interests.
The treaty sets long-term cooperation goals in key sectors and envisions closer coordination on the international stage, including within multilateral organizations, to promote regional stability and address common challenges.
