Egypt’s New Presidential Palace: A Symbol of Grandeur or Extravagance?

Egyptians are debating the newly inaugurated presidential palace in the New Administrative Capital. Unveiled during a D-8 summit hosted by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the palace spans over 2.5 million square meters, with a building area ten times larger than the White House.

The new presidential palace is seen by supporters as a reflection of national pride and a boost to Egypt’s international stature. However, critics argue that the resources allocated for the project could have been better utilized to address pressing socio-economic issues facing the country.
