Tunisia and Algeria Strengthen Cooperation in the Energy Sector

On January 9, 2025, Tunisia’s Minister of Industry, Fatma Thabet Chaïboub, met with Sonelgaz CEO Murad Ajal to enhance energy sector collaboration.

Two agreements were signed between Tunisia’s STEG and Algeria’s Sonelgaz to strengthen partnerships, exchange expertise, and improve electricity exchange and future projects.

Discussions included advancing tripartite electricity interconnection between Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya to tackle peak demand and ease network pressure.

The meeting reflects the shared commitment to bolstering energy cooperation for economic and social development. Ajal called for expanding partnerships and achieving greater integration.
