The Trump administration is in negotiations with Equatorial Guinea to accept undocumented migrants, including migrants identified as potentially having ties to criminal gangs, according to leaked documents from the Equatorial Guinean government.
The Vice President, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, reconfirmed that discussions are underway but that they are not yet at the final agreement stage. He did remark that Equatorial Guinea has asked the U.S. would pay the housing and living costs required for the undocumented migrants, in addition to developing integration programs.
Mangue did offer reassurance to the public that the country would not accept deportees who have criminal backgrounds, and that any deal with the U.S. would undergo scrutiny.
