China: Floods Kill 30 and Displace Over 80,000 in Beijing

Severe floods struck the Chinese capital, Beijing, overnight, killing 30 people and forcing the evacuation of more than 80,000 residents, according to official Chinese media reports on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Heavy rainfall has affected northern China, including Beijing and the provinces of Hebei, Jilin, and Shandong, since Monday. The downpours have cut off dozens of roads and caused power outages in over 130 villages near the capital.
