Saied to Meloni: Tunisia Rejects Being a Transit Point for Migrants

Tunisian President Kais Saied affirmed on Thursday that Tunisia refuses to serve as either a transit point or a destination for irregular migrants. His remarks came during a meeting at Carthage Palace with Giorgia Meloni, Italian Prime Minister, who was on an official visit to Tunisia.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the talks focused in particular on the need for joint efforts among all concerned parties to organize air bridges for the voluntary return of irregular migrants currently on Tunisian soil. The discussion also emphasized dismantling the criminal networks involved in human trafficking and organ trade.
