Health Ministry Denies Chikungunya Cases in Tunisia

The Ministry of Health announced that no cases of the Chikungunya virus have been recorded in Tunisia, following recent rumors circulating about its presence.

The ministry said it has strengthened health surveillance nationwide, including at border points, and remains ready to take preventive measures against any developments related to the virus or other health emergencies.

Authorities urged citizens and media outlets to rely solely on official sources for information and avoid spreading unverified news.

The ministry clarified that Chikungunya is not a new virus; it has existed for years, particularly in tropical regions, and is primarily transmitted through bites from the Aedes mosquito (tiger mosquito).
