Tunisian Transport and Tourism Ministries Study Expansion of Flight Connections

Tunisia’s Ministers of Transport and Tourism met on Monday, August 25, 2025, to discuss the possibility of opening new air routes aimed at revitalizing regional airports and attracting promising markets such as China, Germany, and Russia.

Transport Minister Rachid Amri highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize airport infrastructure and improve Tunisair’s fleet and services, stressing the importance of a joint program between the two ministries to strengthen Tunisia’s appeal as a destination.

For his part, Tourism Minister Sofien Tekia underlined the strong link between air transport and tourism growth, noting rising demand from international travel agencies. He also announced plans to expand maritime tourism starting in 2026, with pilot projects in Sfax, Sousse, Zarzis, and Gabes, and called for greater promotion of Tunisian handicrafts in airports and ports.
