Launch of World’s Longest Direct Flight, Lasting 29 Hours

China Eastern Airlines has begun selling tickets for what could become the world’s longest direct flight, covering nearly 12,000 miles across the Pacific. The route will connect Shanghai, China, with Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a scheduled 29-hour journey.

Set to begin in December 2025, the Boeing 777-300ER will make a two-hour refueling stop in Auckland, New Zealand, without passengers disembarking—allowing the trip to retain its “direct flight” classification.

Designated as Flight 746, the service will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays.
