Lebanon Releases Hannibal Gaddafi After 10 Years in Detention

Lebanese authorities have ordered the release of Hannibal Gaddafi, son of late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, after ten years in detention.

The decision, issued on Friday, October 17, 2025, allows his release in exchange for a bail of about 11 million dollars, according to Sky News Arabia.

Hannibal Gaddafi had been held in Lebanon for a decade without trial. He appeared before investigative judge Zaher Hammadeh as part of the ongoing probe into the 1978 disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions during their visit to Libya.
