Samsung Unveils Its First Tri-Fold Smartphone

Samsung Electronics has revealed its first tri-fold smartphone — a bold showcase of its engineering leadership in the foldable device market, even as such products remain niche and not yet widespread among mainstream consumers.

The new Galaxy Z TriFold belongs to a limited category of foldable phones featuring two hinge mechanisms, allowing the device to expand into a tablet-sized screen for enhanced productivity and multimedia experiences.

Samsung plans to launch the phone initially in South Korea on December 12, priced at approximately USD 2,450. The company has also confirmed plans to release the device in the United States, though pricing details for the US market have not yet been disclosed. Additional markets will include China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.

This innovative tri-fold design is expected to intensify competition in the premium smartphone segment, particularly with Apple, which has not yet introduced a foldable device to its product lineup.
