Ancient Archaeological Features Emerge Along Nabeul Coast

Dr. Riadh Mrabet, an archaeologist and academic researcher, revealed that the recent drop in sea levels and changes in wave activity along the coast of Nabeul,Tunisia, have led to the discovery of highly significant archaeological features that were previously buried underground. These findings were recorded in the areas of Sidi El Mahersi and Ouedine Beach.

In a statement to Tunisian radio station, Dr. Mrabet explained that the retreat of seawater in Sidi El Mahersi has confirmed earlier scientific hypotheses about the presence of caves dating back to the Libyan period, also known as the Protohistoric era. Two groups of double caves, locally known as Hawanit, were identified, featuring clear entrances. These structures are believed to be funerary monuments dating back to around 3000 BC.
