Enhancing Tunisian-Senegalese cooperation in the energy sector was the focus of a meeting held on Thursday, February 5, between Tunisia’s Secretary of State for Energy Transition, Wael Chouchane, and Senegal’s Minister of Energy, Oil and Mines, Birame Souleye Diop.
The meeting explored opportunities for exchanging expertise in clean energy projects and assessing the launch of joint initiatives in the sector.
Chouchane praised the fruitful cooperation between the two countries and stressed the importance of leveraging investment opportunities, particularly given Senegal’s role as a key economic hub in West Africa. He highlighted the priority of renewable energy projects in supporting the energy transition across the region.
For his part, the Senegalese minister welcomed the longstanding relations between the two countries and called for further strengthening cooperation to meet shared ambitions.
Senegal is considered a key partner for Tunisia in several industrial sectors, including agri-food and pharmaceuticals, with energy cooperation also supported through a partnership agreement between Tunisia’s National Agency for Energy Management and its Senegalese counterpart.
