An attack struck Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant on Tuesday evening, raising concerns about the risk of a radioactive incident amid the ongoing war in the country, according to statements from Russian and Iranian officials.
Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, located in southern Iran, was hit by a projectile that landed near a measurement service building within the facility, close to an operating unit, Russia’s state news agency reported.
Russian, Iranian, and international authorities, including the International Atomic Energy Agency, said no nuclear material leak had been detected following the incident, and radiation levels remained normal.
Bushehr is Iran’s only operating nuclear power plant and hosts Russian technicians involved in nuclear fuel and low-enriched uranium activities, making any attack on the facility a source of international concern.
