Tunisia Reaffirms Commitment to AfCFTA Cooperation

held a phone call with Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), to discuss ongoing cooperation and future prospects.

The conversation focused on strengthening collaboration between Tunisia and the AfCFTA Secretariat to support economic integration across Africa and boost intra-African trade. The Minister highlighted Tunisia’s early ratification of the AfCFTA Agreement and its proactive role in advancing its implementation, reaffirming the country’s commitment to this key continental initiative.

Nafti also reviewed Tunisia’s proposed projects under the AfCFTA framework aimed at promoting regional integration and emphasized the importance of advancing their implementation. He stressed the need to enhance Tunisian representation within the Secretariat and to continue contributing to capacity-building efforts across African countries. He further underscored the potential for stronger cooperation between AfCFTA and the African Center of Excellence for Inclusive Markets, based in Tunisia.

For his part, the Secretary-General praised Tunisia’s continued support and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation and move forward with the implementation of joint projects to strengthen economic ties within the AfCFTA framework.
