Tunisia and Libya Strengthen Economic and Trade Cooperation

Tunisian Head of Government Sarah Zafrani Zenzeri met on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, with Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade Mohamed Al-Hwaij and his accompanying delegation during their working visit to Tunis.

The Tunisian Head of Government highlighted the strong historical ties between Tunisia and Libya and called for stronger cooperation to enhance economic and trade relations. She reaffirmed Tunisia’s support for a “Libyan-led” solution to Libya’s internal issues and stressed the need for joint efforts to ensure stability and shared security.

Both sides agreed to advance cooperation through a joint roadmap to boost trade, build partnerships, and expand into African markets. Libyan Minister Mohamed Al-Hwaij emphasized harmonizing standards and promoting private sector participation, while his Tunisian cpunterpart Samir Abid announced new agreements to unify standards and enhance trade monitoring.

The meeting concluded with both countries reaffirming their commitment to closer economic collaboration.
