AFCON 2027 Qualifiers Draw to Be Held on December 19

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Monday that the draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers will take place on 19 December.

The 2027 AFCON finals will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—the same nations that organized the African Nations Championship for local players last August.

Participating teams will be divided into 13 groups, each containing three or four teams. The group winners and the three best runners-up will qualify directly for the 2027 tournament.

The remaining second-placed teams will face each other in home-and-away playoff matches to determine the final qualifying spots.

The qualifiers are scheduled to kick off in March 2026 with the first two matchdays.
