Tunisia and United States Seek to Deepen Transport Partnership

Tunisia’s Minister of Transport, Rachid Amri, met on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, with U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia Bill Bazzi, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, and the U.S. Embassy.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen Tunisian–American cooperation in the transport sector. Both sides praised the existing partnership across various modes of transport and expressed their commitment to further enhancing cooperation in line with the political will of both countries’ leaderships.

Minister Amri highlighted the strategic role of the transport sector in advancing bilateral relations, stressing the importance of air connectivity and cooperation on priority national projects, particularly in civil aviation, maritime transport, ports, railways, digitalization, and the deployment of intelligent transport systems.

For his part, Ambassador Bazzi reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to deepening cooperation and exchanging expertise to modernize Tunisia’s transport system, enhance safety and security, and support economic growth, trade, and tourism.

Both sides agreed to continue technical consultations to develop practical cooperation programs, promote partnership, and encourage investment in the transport and logistics sector for the benefit of both nations.
