China on Sunday called on the United States to immediately release Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro following what it described as a U.S. attack on Caracas and his arrest.
In a statement, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Washington to ensure the personal safety of Maduro and his wife and to release them without delay, calling the operation a clear violation of international law.
China also warned against attempts to overthrow the Venezuelan government and called for the crisis to be resolved through dialogue and negotiations rather than force.
