Tunisia and Egypt Reinforce Strong Bilateral and Parliamentary Ties

The head of Tunisian parliament, Ibrahim Bouderbala, received the Egyptian Ambassador to Tunisia, Bassem Hassan, on Monday at the Bardo Palace, in the presence of the deputy speaker in charge of foreign relations.

He highlighted the strong historic ties between Tunisia and Egypt and their shared commitment to boosting cooperation, particularly in the economic, trade, academic, and cultural fields. He also stressed the importance of continued coordination between both countries’ leaderships.

The head of parliament called for stronger parliamentary cooperation through increased exchanges and visits, noting the creation of a Tunisia–Egypt friendship group to support these efforts. He also reaffirmed Tunisia’s appreciation for Egypt’s role in the Arab region and the need for ongoing consultation on key regional issues.

The ambassador, in turn, praised the steady development of bilateral relations and conveyed his counterpart’s willingness to further enhance parliamentary ties. He also reiterated Egypt’s appreciation for Tunisia’s support on regional matters, including its stance on Nile water rights.
