Donatella Versace Steps Down After Nearly Three Decades of Leadership

Milan, March 13 (Reuters) – After nearly three decades at the helm of Versace, Donatella Versace is stepping down as the brand’s chief creative officer. Her departure comes amid speculation that Versace’s parent company, Capri Holdings, is close to selling the iconic fashion house to Prada for approximately €1.5 billion ($1.6 billion).

Donatella, who took charge after her brother Gianni’s tragic murder in 1997, will transition to the role of chief brand ambassador. She expressed gratitude for her journey, stating, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry on my brother Gianni’s legacy.”

Dario Vitale, former Design and Image Director at Prada’s Miu Miu, will take over as chief creative officer starting April 1.
