A new archaeological site, “Hanshir Al-Darrawiya,” has been discovered in the Jebel Salloum area of Kasserine, Tunisia. Announced by Samira Souheili, a researcher at the National Heritage Institute, the site dates back to the Roman era (3rd–7th century AD).
The 5-hectare site includes significant features such as an olive oil press, a Roman bath, a burial site, and ancient water infrastructure. Inscriptions found at the site reveal details about its construction and the names of the estate owner and architect.
The region was historically renowned for its olive oil production, and further excavations may be planned in the future to uncover more about this important site.
