Texas Floods: Death Toll Rises to 131

At least 131 people have died due to severe flooding across Texas, Governor Greg Abbott confirmed Monday. Most of the deaths occurred in the Kerrville area following storms that began on July 4.

The National Weather Service has warned of more heavy rainfall in central Texas, including the Hill Country and areas along the Guadalupe River. Residents and rescue teams have been urged to move to higher ground.

The number of missing persons has decreased to 97, down from more than 160 reported last week.
