Egypt: Attacks on Ships in the Red Sea Are No Longer Acceptable or Justifiable

Friday, January 24, 2025

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty stated that attacks on ships in the Red Sea are unjustifiable, especially after the Gaza ceasefire.

Speaking to Sada El Balad, he highlighted Egypt’s economic losses of over $8 billion due to the region’s instability and called for an end to targeting commercial vessels.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to enforcing the Gaza ceasefire and urged all parties to focus on humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
