« No Other Land, » a Palestinian-Israeli Documentary, Wins Oscar for Best Documentary

The Israeli-Palestinian documentary No Other Land has won Best Documentary Feature at the 97th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Directed by Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham and Palestinian journalist Basel Adra, the film captures the struggle of Palestinians in Masafer Yatta, an occupied West Bank community facing Israeli military expansion and settler violence.

Despite receiving international acclaim, the film faced distribution challenges in the U.S. due to its criticism of Israeli policies. It previously won the top documentary prize at the Berlinale Film Festival, where the directors sparked controversy by condemning the occupation in their acceptance speech.

The film has resonated deeply with the people of Masafer Yatta, who continue to resist forced displacement. Adra calls No Other Land an act of resistance, shedding light on the daily realities of Palestinians under occupation.
