Japanese Parliamentary Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs on Working Visit to Tunis

On May 45, 2025 the Japanese Parliamentary Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisashi Matsumoto, made a working visit to Tunisia focused on further strengthening bilateral relations, in advance of the 70th Anniversary for diplomatic relations between Japan and Tunisia.

The Japanese Vice Minister met with the Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti, who both jointly expressed the friendly relations and strong cooperation between Tunisia and Japan broadly speaking in the development, economic, and technical fields.

They also focused on discussing the preparation for the Tunisia-Japan Joint Committee at its 12th session, Tunisias participation at the ninth TICAD, and arrangements for Tunisia’s National Day at Expo Osaka 2025.

Matsumoto and colleagues visited La Rabta Hospital while in Tunis, where he was able to highlight Japans contribution and support of Tunisias health sector through JICA, and was able to express his interest in bilateral cooperation and future cooperation with the African continent.
