Interior Minister: Tunisia Won’t Be a Transit Point for Migrants

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Khaled Nouri assured that Tunisia will not become a transit point or host country for irregular migrants. His comments came during a meeting with Director General of International Organization for Migration (IOM) Amy Pope.

Nouri stated that Tunisia’s allencompassing efforts of managing irregular migration were consistent with international human rights standards. He also condemned misguided campaigns to obstruct the country’s positive efforts to protect and care for migrants.

Nouri remarked that there is a need for humanitarian and collective solutions. The meeting was also used as an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation with the IOM. and both sides acknowledged the joint programs successes, particularly related to irregular migration.
