Tunis Welcomes Global Sumud Flotilla Aiming to Break Gaza Blockade

Dozens of boats from Barcelona arrived Sunday, September 7, on the shores of Sidi Bou Saïd near Tunis, where they were welcomed with applause and chants of “Welcome to Tunis.”

The vessels are part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza. Another group of boats from Genoa is expected to join before the fleet departs from Tunis on Wednesday, September 10.

More than 44 delegations from around the world are set to take part, making this the largest flotilla of its kind since October 7, 2023.
