Tunisia and Egypt Discuss Strengthening Cooperation in the Transport Sector

Tunisian Minister of Transport Rachid Amri met on Monday, February 2, 2026, with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Tunisia, Bassem Hassan, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the transport sector. The meeting focused on activating joint programs and implementing existing agreements, in line with the strong historical ties and the shared political will of both countries.

The talks emphasized the need to accelerate the development of executive programs to operationalize bilateral agreements in transport and logistics. Both sides also highlighted the importance of improving air connectivity between Tunisian and Egyptian airports and exploring the possibility of launching a maritime route to facilitate the movement of goods and passengers.

The Egyptian ambassador welcomed the strong commitment from both sides to deepen cooperation and expressed Egypt’s readiness to contribute to major transport projects in Tunisia. The meeting concluded with an agreement to exchange expertise and strengthen coordination to serve the mutual interests of the two friendly nations.
