Tunisia Seeks to Strengthen Transport Digitalization with Chinese Partner Huawei

Tunisia’s Minister of Transport, Rachid Amri, received a delegation from China’s Huawei on Monday, 22 December 2025, in the presence of senior officials from the ministry, to discuss prospects for cooperation in smart transport and digitalization.

During the meeting, the Minister praised the strong relations between Tunisia and China and stressed the importance of further strengthening cooperation in line with the political will of both countries’ leaderships. He highlighted the need to benefit from successful international experiences in smart transport, particularly in developing digital infrastructure for ports, airports, land border crossings, road and rail transport, and information systems, with the aim of improving services, productivity, and safety in the transport sector.

The Huawei delegation presented the company’s experience in smart transport and information systems, expressing interest in establishing partnerships to exchange expertise and contribute to digitalization and smart transport projects in Tunisia. The Ministry of Transport also outlined its ongoing and planned projects in smart transport and the digital transformation of the sector.
