Tunisian-U.S. Relations Strengthened During Official Talks

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ali Nafti received on Monday, January 26, 2026, Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump on Arab Affairs, the Middle East and Africa, during his official visit to Tunisia. The meeting was attended by senior U.S. officials, including the U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia.

The talks reaffirmed the depth of the historic Tunisian-U.S. partnership, spanning more than 228 years, and explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade, security, military, scientific, technological, tourism and transport sectors. The minister stressed the importance of boosting U.S. investment in Tunisia and advancing a bilateral trade agreement to facilitate Tunisian exports, particularly olive oil, to the U.S. market.

Discussions also covered regional issues, with Tunisia reiterating its firm support for the Palestinian people and the pursuit of a just solution, as well as the need for a Libyan-led political settlement. In this context, the U.S. side expressed support for the Tripartite Consultation Mechanism on Libya currently meeting in Tunis.
