Tunisia’s Economy Minister Meets World Bank Regional Director

Tunisia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, met on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, with Ahmadou Moustapha Ndiaye, the World Bank’s Regional Director for the Maghreb and Malta, who is on a working visit to Tunisia.

The meeting, attended by the Director of the World Bank Office in Tunisia, the Head of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) office, and accompanying delegations, reviewed the progress of financial and technical cooperation and the implementation of several World Bank–funded projects.

Discussions also covered the 2026 work program, including projects in key sectors such as social protection, water resources, and flood prevention. In addition, both sides explored areas of cooperation for the 2027–2028 period, notably in transport, health, energy, environment, and sanitation.

Minister Abdelhafidh expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Tunisia and the World Bank, stressing its alignment with national development priorities and the 2026–2030 development plan. For his part, Ndiaye reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to supporting Tunisia’s reform and development efforts, noting recent improvements in several economic indicators and pledging continued financial and technical support over the medium and long term.
