Tunisian Finance Minister Meets World Bank Regional Director

Tunisian Finance Minister Mechkat Slama Khaldi met on February 5, 2026, with Ahmadou Moustapha Ndiaye, World Bank Regional Director for the Maghreb and Malta. The meeting was also attended by the World Bank’s representative in Tunisia, Alexandre Arrobbio.

Discussions focused on the progress of the ongoing cooperation program between Tunisia and the World Bank, as well as the upcoming joint action plan. Key areas include public finance reform, digital systems development, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, improved access to financing, and World Bank-funded development projects.

The Tunisian Minister highlighted the strong partnership between Tunisia and the World Bank, stressing its important role in supporting social and development projects aligned with national priorities. Ndiaye reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to continued support for Tunisia and to strengthening cooperation, particularly in growth-driven sectors, while making full use of the Bank’s available financial instruments.
