Rescue vessel Ocean Viking has saved 116 migrants, including 40 minors and 13 women, off the southern coast of Tunisia. Among those rescued were two infants who had been stranded at sea for several days.
According to survivors, the group—comprising individuals from 17 different countries—had been attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea when their boat encountered severe weather conditions. The vessel reportedly broke down after being hit by a storm, leaving those on board adrift for four nights as waves scattered and endangered passengers.
This latest rescue highlights the ongoing risks faced by migrants attempting the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean, with Tunisia continuing to serve as a key departure point along this route.
