On Thursday, the United States added North Korea and Burkina Faso to its warning list, advising Americans not to travel to the countries, bringing total number of countries the U.S. advises against traveling to 21.
North Korea was placed on the list because of the « serious and ongoing risk of arrest, prolonged detention, or arbitrary imprisonment. » Burkina Faso was already on the list because of rampant terrorism, crime, and kidnappings.
The final list of high-risk countries now includes: Yemen, Iran, South Sudan, Syria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Central African Republic, Belarus, Iraq, Ukraine, Venezuela, Haiti, Libya, Somalia, Russia, Myanmar, Mali and Sudan.
