Tunisian President Kais Saied received on Tuesday, at Carthage Palace, Mr. George Elombi, the new President and Chairman of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), who is on a working visit to Tunisia.
President Saied highlighted the strong strategic partnership between Tunisia and Afreximbank, emphasizing the bank’s vital role in providing favorable financial resources to support the state budget and finance key economic projects. He further underlined the bank’s broader contribution to fostering and developing intra-African trade across the continent.
The President affirmed that Afreximbank is an essential partner for Tunisia’s public and private sectors in addressing economic and financial challenges. He welcomed the bank’s commitment to supporting major infrastructure projects and investments in critical development sectors. President Saied also expressed satisfaction with Afreximbank’s intention to open a regional office in Tunisia, noting that this would stimulate the country’s financial landscape by expanding financing opportunities for Tunisian enterprises.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Fathi Zouhair Nouri, Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia.
